MS. SARAH IKRAM (MBA, MSc, RDN)
What does Weight Management mean to you? If you had asked me a few short years ago, my answer would have been calories in and calories out. Back then at the college, I was taught the same concept again and again. I always use to wonder, if it would be me and I had to calorie restrict myself It would be so difficult, especially when I worked full time.
And then what about normal people who had put on weight how would they measure all of the food? Something just didn’t make sense!
That’s where my view on weight management started to change. It was during my virtual training from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics USA, I discovered that how health literacy varies with all of us and it is important to recognize the importance of doing a complete nutritional health exam with every patient/ client that comes to you. It helped me recognize nutritional deficiencies and allowed me to work with physicians from all specialties to help my clients reach their goals and it simply worked.
It made a huge difference.
I went through different pieces of training to get the answer that I was looking for?
A simple method that could be incorporated into normal daily lives and could also result in weight loss using ingredients that belong to the culture.
